The Art of Action

Action and fight scene Breakdowns are particularly appreciated by the audience, but what does The Art of Action is one step ahead. Maybe it is because the interviewer is one of the best martial artist movie performer in the world, or maybe it is because the guests are very important figures of the martial art movie industry of the last two decades. But the Scott Adkins talks have so much potential that maybe even himself has not realized the impact of such show.

Who the hell is Scott Adkins?

First of all, if you do not know who Scott Adkins is, your knowledge of the martial art movies stops to ‘90s and its really need to be updated. This English guy is: actor, martial artist, producer, screenwriter and gymnastic.

His performance in the martial art/action movies bring him to shine as one of the brightest martial art movie stars of the world. As athlete I like to call him the “ninja”, because of his multiple studies and knowledge about martial art in general. In fact he practises: Taekwondo, Kick boxing, Jujitsu, Karate, Wushu, Muay Thai, Capoeira and Ninjutsu of course. He began his stunt career in the best way possible, which means working in Hong Kong under big choreographer names like Yuen Woo-ping, Corey Yuen, Sammo Hung and even Jackie Chan himself.

Until now, he is participated in more than fifty different movies. Here’s a few mentions: Undisputed II Last Man Standing, Undisputed III Redemption, Universal Soldier Day of Reckoning, Green Street 3 Never Back Down,  Ninja Shoadow of a Tear, Boyka Undisputed, Accident Man, Ip Man 4 and many many others.

The Art of Action breakdows

I have already introduce you to a fight scene breakdown in one of my first blogs, but these ones of The Art of Action are in some ways different. It is really more like a friend talk, in which the mutual respect shows off.

The Scott Adkins formula is pretty easy: an informal video call with one of his movie star mates, commenting the most iconic fight scenes of their career. The result is so enjoyable, the approach of the show really allow us to see the actors relationship, their experience and their feelings in and outside the action scenes. It is not only a meeting of two great athletes or actors, but also a conversation between two martial art lovers and researchers. The video calls last longer than a half an hour, but the conversations are so catchy and natural that you won’t even notice it, or rather you will watch more.

Until now The Art of Action counts six episodes, but given the success and the enthusiasm of the audience, I am sure that Scott Adkins will continue to make a few calls more. The guests until now were: Marko Zaror, Kane Kosugi, Tony Jaa, Michael Jay White, Gareth Evans and Loren Avedon. It is impossible to choose only one episode, so I propose you here below the playlist where you can find them all.

I doubt that my hero Scott Adkins will read this post, but I just want to thank you for your work and for representing Europe. I like every single movie you were in, thank to you and your mates to continue what Bruce Lee has started. You cannot imagine how influential and inspirational are your performances and your words. If my blog is open, that is also because of your work!
